South Africa’s young batting sensation Tristan Stubbs has been in stupendous form recently. Known for his attacking style, Stubbs has delivered yet another masterclass in Test cricket. After scoring a century in Chattogram against Bangladesh last month, he has now followed it up with another hundred against Sri Lanka in Durban.
The ongoing first Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka at Kingsmead has seen the hosts dominating the game. South Africa managed to post 191 in their first innings, and their bowlers demolished Sri Lanka’s batting lineup, bowling them out for just 42 runs. With a huge lead in hand, the Proteas are now piling up more runs in their second innings, thanks to brilliant batting performances.
Tristan Stubbs and Temba Bavuma Lead South Africa’s Charge
Walking in at number four with the score at 77/2, Stubbs joined hands with skipper Temba Bavuma to stabilize the innings. The duo built a mammoth partnership of over 200 runs, putting South Africa in a commanding position. Stubbs played his natural game, hitting seven boundaries and two sixes, and brought up his second consecutive Test hundred off 183 balls.
Bavuma, too, has been impressive at the other end. After scoring 70 runs in the first innings, he is now nearing a well-deserved century in the second innings.
