India’s U19 captain, Mohammad Amaan, delivered a stunning performance in the second match of the U19 Asia Cup 2024. The right-handed batter played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 122 runs off 118 balls, helping India post an impressive total of 339 runs against Japan in their 50 overs.
Coming in at number four, Amaan steadied the innings after Ayush Mhatre’s quickfire 54 off 29 balls ended in the 11th over. Known for his calm approach, Amaan kept the scoreboard ticking with singles and doubles while ensuring the team capitalized on the strong start.
He built a crucial partnership with KP Karthikeya, who scored 57 runs off 49 balls. While Karthikeya couldn’t convert his start into a century, Amaan reached his milestone in the 46th over, hitting seven boundaries in his innings.
India Bounces Back After a Shaky Start
After losing their opening match, India looked determined to turn things around. Despite losing the toss and being put in to bat, the team made good use of a batting-friendly pitch. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old sensation recently signed by Rajasthan Royals, scored 23 runs off 23 balls before falling.
Andre Siddarth C, added 35 runs off 47 balls but couldn’t go on to make a bigger impact. Hardik Raj remained unbeaten for 25 runs from 12 balls. With Amaan leading from the front, India is now in a strong position to secure their first win of the tournament against a relatively inexperienced Japan side.
