Australian batter Travis Head has spoken out about his on-field altercation with Mohammed Siraj during Day 2 of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. Head, who played a stunning knock of 140 runs, claimed that Siraj misunderstood his compliment after dismissing him.

Head’s century, his third in Adelaide, put Australia in a strong position. However, his dismissal by Siraj led to an animated send-off from the Indian pacer. Speaking to the broadcasters after the day’s play, Head explained the exchange, saying he had praised Siraj’s delivery, but the bowler appeared to misinterpret it.

“I said ‘well bowled,’ but he thought otherwise. When he pointed me to the shed, I gave him a bit back. Slightly disappointed with how it transpired, but it is what it is,” Head shared. He further added, “If they want to act like that and that’s how they’re going to represent themselves, then so be it.”

The altercation drew boos from the Adelaide crowd, who had come out in large numbers to support their local hero.

Heartwarming Dedication to Newborn Son

Amid the tension, Head also took a moment to reflect on the personal significance of his innings. The Australian batter dedicated his century to his newborn son, Harrison, who was born just a few weeks ago.

“We have a newborn boy. I did something similar when Miller was born. I would have got some stick from my wife if I hadn’t done the same for Harrison,” Head joked.

Reflecting on his innings, Head admitted he took some risks to reach his milestone but was pleased with the result.

“I took my chances here and there. At times, it was tough to get bat on ball as they were bowling really well. But I rode my luck and put the team in a good position,” he said.

Australia in Control

At the end of Day 2, Australia held a 29-run lead over India but were firmly in the driver’s seat. Head’s knock had guided the hosts to a 157-run first-innings lead, and India struggled in their second innings, losing five wickets for 128 runs. With Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy at the crease, India faces a daunting task to turn the match around.
