Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has praised Mohammed Siraj for his passion and bowling skills, comparing him to Virat Kohli. Hazlewood’s comments come at a time when Siraj is in the spotlight for his heated exchange with Travis Head during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar series in Adelaide.

The incident unfolded during the second innings of the pink-ball Test when Travis Head smashed a six off Siraj after scoring a brilliant century. On the very next delivery, Siraj bowled him out and gave him an aggressive send-off. However, Head retaliated, and the confrontation quickly escalated into a verbal spat. Both players later accused each other of lying about the incident during their press interviews.

Amid the controversy, Hazlewood has spoken in support of Siraj, recalling their time together at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In an interview with Perth Now, Hazlewood called Siraj a passionate cricketer and likened his energy on the field to that of Virat Kohli. He also described Siraj as a fun and hardworking teammate.

“He’s another one who’s a bit like Virat, very passionate and gets the crowd involved. He’s bowled some serious spells in the IPL. I really enjoyed my time at RCB with him,” Hazlewood said.

Hazlewood himself missed the Adelaide Test due to a side strain, and his availability for the third Test at Gabba remains uncertain. Meanwhile, the ongoing Siraj-Head rivalry has added fuel to the already intense Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with both teams fighting hard for supremacy.
