Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and Australian batter Travis Head are likely to face punishment from the International Cricket Council (ICC) after a heated exchange during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide.

As reported by Australian media outlets like Daily Telegraph and Code Sports, both players breached the ICC’s code of conduct during day two of the pink-ball Test. The disciplinary hearing on Monday, December 9, found them guilty. However, due to their clean records in the past, they are expected to face only fines or warnings instead of suspensions.

The incident occurred when Siraj bowled out Head for a brilliant 140 runs off 141 balls. After dismissing him, Siraj gave an aggressive send-off, which led to a verbal argument between the two. The Indian pacer faced boos from the Adelaide crowd after the confrontation. Australia eventually won the match by 10 wickets, leveling the series 1-1.

Both players shared their sides of the story after the match. Head claimed he had only praised Siraj by saying, “well bowled,” and was unhappy with the bowler’s reaction. However, Siraj disagreed, stating that Head had used abusive language. “I only celebrated after taking his wicket. What he said later in the press conference is false,” Siraj told Star Sports.

Cricket journalist Bharat Sundaresan confirmed that Head had cursed Siraj during the incident. Later, Head admitted his mistake, saying, “I am disappointed with my reaction.” The ICC is expected to announce their decision regarding the incident soon.
