The Lahore High Court has summoned a woman who filed a sexual harassment case against Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam. The court has asked her to appear on December 12 for the next hearing of the case. This decision came after the Lahore High Court reviewed the trial court’s order to register the case against Babar Azam.
Babar Azam had challenged the trial court’s decision in the Lahore High Court. The court has extended the stay on the decision to register the case against Azam. This means that the case will not be registered until the hearing on December 12, when the court will make a final decision.
Background of the Case
A few years ago, a woman named Hamiza Mukhtar claimed that she had a relationship with Babar Azam. She said that the relationship lasted for a long time, and during that period, she became pregnant. Mukhtar claimed that Babar Azam asked her to abort the child and promised to marry her. She said that Azam told her it would not be good for them to have a child before marriage.
Mukhtar presented medical documents to the court to prove her claims about the abortion and the relationship with the former Pakistan captain. She also said that she went to the police station in Naseerabad to file a case (FIR) against Azam. However, she later withdrew her complaint after Azam promised to marry her. Mukhtar said that she returned to the police station later, but the police were unwilling to register her case.
False Harassment Allegations
Mukhtar then asked the court to order the police to register a case against Babar Azam for blackmailing her and for his actions in the name of marriage. However, after an investigation, the police found that her claims of harassment against Azam were not true. The police report, which was presented to the court, proved that neither Mukhtar nor her family had been harassed or blackmailed by Azam or his family.
