Melbourne Renegades batters put up an impressive performance in their Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 clash against the Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). While the top-order batters played quick knocks, captain Will Sutherland and Tim Seifert anchored the innings to take the team to a competitive total of 169/7 in 20 overs.
The Renegades began their innings with a bang. Jake Fraser-McGurk set the tone with a quick 21 off 12 balls, hitting two boundaries and a massive six. He was followed by Josh Brown, who added a blazing 22 runs from just 10 balls. Their aggressive approach gave the team a solid start in the powerplay.
However, the Sydney Sixers bowlers fought back, dismissing the top order quickly. Despite the early wickets, the Renegades’ middle order rose to the occasion.
Will Sutherland and Tim Seifert Steady the Ship
Tim Seifert played a composed knock, scoring 55 runs off 42 balls. His innings included some well-timed boundaries and clever rotation of strike. Seifert’s calm presence in the middle helped stabilize the innings after the loss of quick wickets.
Captain Will Sutherland took charge in the death overs. His unbeaten 36 off 28 balls gave the team a strong finish. Sutherland’s ability to find gaps and hit big shots in the final overs ensured the Renegades crossed the 160-run mark.
