Nathan McSweeney made a strong statement on his return to the Big Bash League, scoring a quick-fire fifty for Brisbane Heat in their match against Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba. The 25-year-old’s explosive innings came after a disappointing exit from Australia’s Test squad, where he was dropped after just three matches against India.

Brisbane Heat batted first and posted a competitive total of 174/6 at The Gabba. Adelaide Strikers started well, but Heat lost their openers early, slumping to 19/3.
