Mumbai’s Ayush Mhatre created history in the Vijay Hazare Trophy by becoming the youngest batter to score 150+ runs in a List A innings.
The 17-year-old achieved this remarkable feat during Mumbai’s match against Nagaland, smashing 181 off just 117 balls. Mhatre broke the previous record held by fellow Mumbaikar Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had scored 150 at the age of 17 years and 291 days in 2019.
Mhatre’s Record-breaking Innings
Opening the batting alongside Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Mhatre took the Nagaland bowlers apart with his aggressive stroke play. His innings included 15 fours and 11 sixes, showcasing his ability to dominate bowlers across all corners of the ground. At just 17 years and 168 days old, Mhatre etched his name in cricket history with this performance.
This was only Mhatre’s fourth List A game, and he has already shown glimpses of his incredible potential. In his debut match earlier in the tournament, he scored a solid 78 against Karnataka.
