Adelaide Strikers faced off against Perth Scorchers at the Adelaide Oval on December 31. Batting first, Adelaide Strikers were in big trouble, losing wickets quickly. They were reduced to just 54/7 in their innings, with the team’s top order failing to put up a fight.
Jhye Richardson’s Brilliant Spell
The Strikers’ batting collapse started early, as they went from 17/0 to 35/6 in no time. Jhye Richardson was the star bowler for Perth Scorchers, taking three wickets in his three-over spell.
Richardson’s first wicket came on the first ball of his second over when he removed the dangerous Jamie Overton. Richardson followed that up with a golden duck as he bowled a perfect Yorker to dismiss Liam Scott.
The highlight of the over was Richardson’s delivery to Scott, which was an absolute beauty, hitting the stumps clean. The bowler was visibly excited and celebrated his achievement with a big fist pump.
Later in his spell, Richardson also took the wicket of Adelaide’s captain, Alex Ross, who had scored 20 runs from 15 balls. Adelaide Strikers could only manage 142 runs for the loss of 8 wickets while batting first.
