Rishabh Pant once again showcased his aggressive batting style during the fifth Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday. He scored the second fastest fifty by an Indian in Test cricket, reaching his half-century in just 29 balls.

Pant’s fifty was made up of six boundaries and three sixes. His earlier record of the fastest Test fifty by an Indian was in 28 balls against Sri Lanka in 2022. While Pant was on the verge of breaking his own record, he reached 47 off 23 balls but needed six more balls to complete the remaining three runs.

Breaking Records in Australia

Rishabh Pant’s rapid fifty is also the fastest by a visiting batter in Australia. He beat the previous record of 33 balls held by John Brown (England, 1895) and Roy Fredericks (West Indies, 1975). The wicketkeeper-batter’s blazing start to his innings began with a six off Scott Boland, and he completed his half-century with another maximum off Mitchell Starc.
