Daniel Christian, the 41-year-old veteran, showed that age is just a number as he displayed his power-hitting skills against Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. Coming in as a replacement player for Sydney Thunder, Christian proved he still has the strength in his muscles as he smashed a massive 92-meter six off Xavier Bartlett during the 18th over.
Dan Christian’s Power on Display
In the 19th over, with Sydney Thunder at 150, Xavier Bartlett delivered a length ball around middle and leg. Christian stayed firm and swung it over deep square leg for a monstrous six on the first ball of the over.
Three deliveries later, Christian struck again. Bartlett pitched another length ball, and Christian went down on one knee, executing a perfect pick-up shot. The ball sailed over fine leg for another maximum, leaving the crowd in awe of his clean striking.

Christian eventually remained unbeaten, scoring 23 runs off just 15 balls, including the two sixes in Bartlett’s over. His quick cameo provided Thunder the finishing touch they needed.
Sydney Thunder Post 178
Earlier in the innings, Sydney Thunder captain David Warner led from the front with a blazing half-century off just 36 balls. He was well-supported by Matthew Gilkes, who played a quick 10-ball 20-run knock. Their efforts, combined with Christian’s late fireworks, helped Thunder post a competitive total of 178 runs in 20 overs at The Gabba.
