In an incredible feat for Indian women’s cricket, the Indian women’s team surpassed the India men’s team’s highest total of 418 runs in one-day international (ODI) cricket. On January 15, 2025, during the third ODI against Ireland in Rajkot, India posted a total of 435 runs, breaking the men’s record of 418 runs set against the West Indies in 2011.

India’s 435/5 in 50 overs is now the highest total in women’s ODI cricket for India, as well as the fourth-highest total in the history of women’s ODIs. The previous best for India had been 370, set just three days ago in the second ODI against Ireland.

The standout contributions in this remarkable innings came from openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. Smriti Mandhana, who led the team in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur, was in exceptional form. She scored 135 runs off just 80 balls, including 12 boundaries and seven sixes. Mandhana’s knock was also the fastest by an Indian woman in women’s ODIs, as she reached her hundred in just 70 balls.

Pratika Rawal, in just her second series for India, put on an outstanding display. She scored a magnificent 154 off 129 balls, hitting 20 boundaries and a six. Rawal’s knock was her maiden century, and she not only converted it into a “daddy hundred” but also anchored India’s innings with a commanding performance.
