Smriti Mandhana created history on Wednesday, January 15, during the third ODI against Ireland in Rajkot. She scored her hundred in just 70 balls, breaking Harmanpreet Kaur’s record for the fastest century by an Indian in women’s one-day internationals. Smriti went on to score 135 runs from just 80 balls, hitting 12 fours and 7 sixes in a remarkable innings.

Smriti’s blistering century is now also the joint seventh-fastest in women’s ODI cricket history. Meg Lanning holds the world record with a 45-ball hundred against New Zealand in 2012.

Smriti Mandhana’s Golden Run Continues
This century marked Smriti Mandhana’s 10th in ODI cricket. She became only the fourth player in women’s cricket to reach this milestone, joining Meg Lanning (15 hundreds), Suzie Bates (13), and Tammy Beaumont (10). Smriti achieved this in just 97 matches. Also she is the first Asian to complete 10 centuries in Women’s ODI cricket.
In the match, Smriti also shared a 233-run partnership with young opener Pratika Rawal, the third-highest partnership for India in women’s ODIs. While Smriti dominated with her elegant stroke play, Pratika provided solid support at the other end.
