The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 witnessed a thrilling contest between Rangpur Riders’ Khushdil Shah and Chittagong Kings’ Mohammad Wasim Jr. during Match 24 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Khushdil’s blistering 59 off 28 balls, laced with seven towering sixes and two fours, stole the spotlight, but the intense face-off between the two players became the highlight of the match.

The dramatic encounter unfolded in the 18th over of Rangpur Riders’ innings. Wasim Jr., bowling his third over, was taken apart by Khushdil Shah in sensational fashion. The left-hander smashed three massive sixes, a boundary, and a wide in the same over, racking up a total of 25 runs before Wasim finally got his revenge on the last ball.

On the final ball of the over, Wasim Jr. delivered a short ball angling away from the off stump. Khushdil, brimming with confidence, tried to flat-bat it over the bowler’s head for another big hit. However, he only managed a top edge that went high in the air. Wasim Jr. positioned himself calmly underneath it and took a composed catch, ending the destructive knock.

Although Wasim Jr. conceded heavily in the over, the dismissal provided some relief to Chittagong Kings. The bowler had the last laugh, but Khushdil’s heroics had already powered Rangpur Riders to a strong position.

Khushdil’s innings turned the game around for Rangpur Riders, lifting them from a precarious position to a competitive total of 164/7.
