Vidarbha batter Dhruv Shorey continued his brilliant run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 by scoring a superb century in the final against Karnataka. Shorey, opening the innings for Vidarbha smashed 110 off 111 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes.
Coming into the final, Dhruv Shorey had already made headlines with back-to-back centuries in the quarter-final and semi-final, cementing his position as one of the tournament’s most reliable batters.
Shorey formed small but important partnerships throughout his knock, particularly with skipper Karun Nair and wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma. These partnerships allowed Vidarbha to keep up with the required run rate while recovering from early blows.
However, his dismissal at 223-6 in the 41st over, caught by substitute fielder Praveen Dubey off Abhilash Shetty’s bowling, marked a turning point in the chase.
Although Harsh Dubey added a quick 38 off 19 balls towards the end, Vidarbha’s lower order couldn’t capitalize on Shorey’s platform. With Vidarbha at 275-8 in 45.1 overs, Karnataka appears to be in control, and the match looks poised to go their way.
