Glenn Maxwell once again showcased his batting brilliance in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25, smashing three consecutive sixes in the 19th over to power Melbourne Stars to an imposing 219/5 against Hobart Hurricanes. Overall, Maxwell scored unbeaten 76 off just 32 balls at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The fireworks began in the 19th over when Maxwell faced Gannon. On the third ball, Gannon attempted a yorker but missed, delivering a low full toss. Maxwell capitalized on it, smashing a one-bounce four straight down the ground.

The fourth ball saw Maxwell reach his third consecutive half-century in the tournament. Gannon overpitched, and Maxwell lofted the ball effortlessly over wide mid-off for a six. The crowd erupted in cheers as Maxwell raised his bat to acknowledge his milestone.

Maxwell wasn’t done yet. On the fifth delivery, he slammed a short-of-length ball straight down the ground for another six, displaying his impeccable timing and power.

The final ball of the over was another short delivery, and Maxwell hooked it over fine leg for his third consecutive six. The MCG crowd was treated to a masterclass as Maxwell scored 24 runs off the over, pushing the Stars’ total past 200.

Maxwell’s knock included five boundaries and six sixes, with a stunning strike rate of 237.50. This was yet another match-winning performance from the star batter, who has been in outstanding form throughout the tournament.

So far, Maxwell has scored 297 runs in eight matches at an incredible strike rate of 194 and an average of 59.
