India began their T20I series against England with a dominating seven-wicket victory at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Chasing a modest target of 133, India completed the task in just 12.5 overs, courtesy of Abhishek Sharma’s breathtaking 79 off 34 balls.

England Struggle to Post a Competitive Total

England, put into bat, faltered against India’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for just 132 in 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh struck early, dismissing both openers, Phil Salt (0) and Ben Duckett (4), inside the first three overs. England captain Jos Buttler tried to anchor the innings with a brilliant 68 off 44 balls, hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes. However, he lacked support as the rest of the batting lineup crumbled.

The Indian spin trio—Varun Chakravarthy (3/23), Axar Patel (2/22), and Ravi Bishnoi—kept England in check during the middle overs. Tilak Varma (19*) and Hardik Pandya (3*) ensured there were no further hiccups, guiding India to a comfortable win with 43 balls to spare.
