Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer is recovering well after twisting his ankle during the Elite Group C match against Kerala. According to a report by Sportskeeda, Iyer’s injury is not serious, and he is doing fine. However, he was kept off the field on Day 2 as a precautionary measure.

Iyer, batting at No. 6, came in when his team was struggling at 49/4. He faced just three balls before leaving the field due to discomfort from his ankle twist. Assisted off the field by the physiotherapist and reserve players, his condition sparked concern among fans.

The 30-year-old did not take the field on January 24 but returned to bat later despite his injury. He hit a six and a four off Aditya Sarvate, forming a crucial 43-run partnership with Avesh Khan for the ninth wicket. Iyer managed to score 42 runs off 80 balls, helping Madhya Pradesh post a total of 160.

KKR Optimistic About Shreyas Iyer’s ’s Recovery

With IPL 2025 approaching, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be hoping Iyer fully recovers in time. The franchise spent ₹23.75 crore on him in the mega auction, making him their third-highest-priced player. Iyer was instrumental in KKR’s title-winning campaign in IPL 2024, scoring 370 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 158.79.

Since joining KKR in 2021, Iyer has been a vital part of the team. He has accumulated 1,326 runs in the IPL at a strike rate of 137.12, including one century and 11 fifties.

Madhya Pradesh, meanwhile, has had a challenging Ranji Trophy season. They are sixth in their group with just 10 points from five matches. Despite this, Iyer has been in good form, scoring 330 runs across seven matches at an average of 47.14, including a 174-run knock against Bihar.
