Root Anchors the Royals’ Innings
After being put in to bat, Paarl Royals lost Lhuan-dre Pretorius for a duck in the first over. Joe Root steadied the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 78 off 56 balls, hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Root held one end firm. Skipper David Miller provided a late boost, smashing 29 off 18 deliveries.
Pretoria Capitals’ bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings. Senuran Muthusamy (1/15) and Kyle Simmonds (1/14) were especially economical, while Will Jacks and Eathan Bosch picked up a wicket each.
Capitals Fall Short in the Chase
