The 22nd match of SA20 2025 is underway at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) are facing Joburg Super Kings (JSK) in what has turned out to be a tough start for the Sunrisers. After winning the toss and opting to bat, SEC’s top order crumbled under the bowling attack led by Lutho Sipamla.

Sipamla dismantled the Sunrisers’ top order, sending Zak Crawley, Tom Abell, and Jordan Hermann back to the pavilion without scoring a single run. The 25-year-old pacer bowled with precision and finished his initial three-over spell with impressive figures of 3 wickets for just 13 runs.

Hardus Viljoen also contributed by dismissing SEC skipper Aiden Markram for a duck. By the end of six overs, Sunrisers Eastern Cape were struggling at 31 for 4, with David Bedingham (29* off 23) and wicketkeeper-batter Tristan Stubbs (1* off 3) at the crease.

Current Match Situation

Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s batting lineup failed to deliver early on. Zak Crawley fell to Sipamla on the very first ball of the match, giving Joburg Super Kings a dream start. Sipamla struck again in the first over by clean-bowling Tom Abell.

The struggles continued as Jordan Hermann was caught by Jonny Bairstow off Sipamla’s bowling, leaving SEC reeling at 12 for 3. Captain Aiden Markram couldn’t stabilize the innings, falling to Hardus Viljoen for a first-ball duck.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s batting now depends on David Bedingham, who has shown some fight with 6 boundaries so far and Tristan Stubbs, who s been in good form lately.
