MI Cape Town secured a place in the SA20 2025 playoffs with a thumping 10-wicket win over Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Newlands Cricket Stadium. After struggling in the last two seasons, the sister franchise of Mumbai Indians finally made it to the knockout stage. Chasing a modest target of 108, MI Cape Town openers Rassie van der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton made the task look easy. They attacked from the start and never allowed the bowlers to settle. Rickelton smashed an unbeaten 59 off 36 balls, while van der Dussen played a steady knock of 48 off 30 balls.

MI Cape Town chased down the target in just 11 overs without losing a wicket, securing their playoff spot in style. The celebrations were even more special as Akash Ambani, the team’s owner, was present at the stadium to witness the dominant performance.
