Global Esports Tour 2025: A Historic Milestone for Esports in India

The Skillhub Online Games Federation (SOGF) has announced its partnership with the Global Esports Federation (GEF) to host the 2025 Global Esports Tour (GET) in Mumbai. This is the first-ever Global Esports Tournament in India, solidifying the country’s place on the global esports map.

As reported by DDNews, the Global Esports Tour Mumbai 2025 will bring top-tier professional esports athletes and teams to compete on a world-class stage. The event will feature multi-game titles and high-stakes competition, showcasing the talent and skill of esports professionals from around the world. This partnership is a result of the Strategic Framework Agreement signed between SOGF and GEF in October 2024, aimed at boosting the growth of esports across South Asia, including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

A Launchpad for Indian Talent

The GET Mumbai 2025 will not only serve as a platform for high-level competition but also act as a launchpad for Indian esports talent to showcase their skills internationally. SOGF aims to use this event to fuel investment in India’s esports industry, opening doors to opportunities for athletes, developers, and organizations within the ecosystem.

“We’re bringing the Global Esports Tour to India as part of a broader movement, not just a tournament,” said Sibtain Baqri, CEO of SOGF. “This event highlights India’s potential as a global esports powerhouse. With GET Mumbai, we’re giving athletes an international stage to compete at the highest level, while also laying the foundation for the future of esports in India and South Asia.”

Rustam Aghasiyev, Chief of Staff & Operations at GEF, echoed Baqri’s sentiments, saying, “We are excited to expand the Global Esports Tour to Mumbai, opening new opportunities for the Indian and South Asian esports communities. Our partnership with SOGF represents a significant step toward creating an inclusive, competitive, and world-class esports environment in the region.”

The Global Esports Tour is GEF’s premier professional team series, where elite esports athletes and teams compete in high-stakes tournaments across iconic cities around the world. The addition of Mumbai to the GET calendar further emphasizes GEF’s commitment to inclusivity and delivering memorable experiences for athletes, audiences, and partners alike.

With the launch of the Global Esports Tour in India, all eyes will be on Mumbai as the city gears up to host an event that promises to enhance the region’s esports landscape to new heights.
