Virat Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy did not go well. Fans were excited to see him play, but he could only score 6 runs against Railways. Himanshu Sangwan, a right-arm medium pacer, dismissed Kohli with an inswinging delivery that went through the bat-pad gap and hit the off-stump. The stadium, which was buzzing with excitement, suddenly went silent.
Following his dismissal, people are now curious about Himanshu Sangwan—who he is and what his cricket journey has been so far. Let’s take a look.
Himanshu Sangwan’s Cricket Journey
Himanshu Sangwan was born in Delhi on September 2, 1995. The 29-year-old pacer made his List A debut for Railways on September 27, 2019, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He then played his first T20 match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on November 8, 2019. His first-class debut came on December 9, 2019, in the Ranji Trophy.
A consistent performer, Sangwan had already taken 77 first-class wickets before this match against Delhi. He has played 23 Ranji Trophy matches so far. In white-ball cricket, he has 21 wickets in 17 List A matches and 5 wickets in 7 T20 games.
Apart from cricket, Sangwan has also worked as a ticket collector at the New Delhi Railway Station. He trained at the MRF Pace Foundation under Australian great Glenn McGrath.
