Australia’s Alyssa Healy, who has been leading UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), will not be part of the 2025 season due to a stress injury to her right foot. Healy also did not give any clear answers about her future beyond the ODI World Cup in India later this year.

Healy has been the captain of UP Warriorz in the first two WPL seasons. The third season of WPL will take place from February 14 to March 15, across four venues: Vadodara, Lucknow, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

Healy has faced fitness issues in the past few months. She led Australia to a big win in the Women’s Ashes series against England, but her fitness has been a challenge. She barely played in the one-off Test after missing the T20Is. Due to her injury, Healy was unable to keep wickets during the Test, which forced Australia to make changes to their team.

After the Test win, Healy said:

“Unfortunately, I’ve got a couple of months with my feet up, so I’m pretty bummed about that. But at the same time, I am happy to have some downtime to get my body right. It’s been a frustrating 18 months.”

Healy mentioned that she plans to work on her fitness and look at areas where she can improve. She explained that every time she recovered from one injury, another issue seemed to come up. Her focus now is on making sure she is ready for the ODI World Cup.

Healy also missed parts of the Women’s Big Bash League due to a knee injury. She played as a batter in the ODIs against New Zealand to be fit for the Ashes series.
