During the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, three fans breached security on Day 3 to meet Virat Kohli. This incident happened just two days after another fan managed to get past security to see Kohli up close on Day 1.
Kohli, who is playing his first Ranji Trophy match in 12 years, has been the biggest attraction of this game. Even though he scored only six runs in Delhi’s first innings, fans have been eager to catch a glimpse of him. However, the crowd on Day 3 was smaller compared to the first two days.
Fans Rush To Meet Kohli
A video of the incident has gone viral, showing three fans running onto the field at the same time. One of them even touched Kohli’s feet before security intervened and escorted them out. The incident took place just before lunch, while Kohli was fielding at cover.
To improve security, black covers were placed near the Bishan Singh Bedi stand, which is next to the dressing room in the Virat Kohli Pavilion. For Day 3, fans were seated in the Gautam Gambhir and Mohinder Amarnath stands, while DDCA members were in the Old Clubhouse stands. Despite restrictions on the West stand, the small crowd kept chanting Kohli’s name throughout the game.

Taking about the match, Delhi secured a dominant victory over Railways by an innings and 19 runs in their Ranji Trophy clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Off-spinner Shivam Sharma starred with a five-wicket haul in the second innings, bundling Railways out for 114 after they trailed by 133 runs.
Earlier, Delhi posted 374 in response to Railways’ first-innings total of 241, with Ayush Badoni scoring 99 and Sumit Mathur contributing 86. Despite Kohli’s low score of six, Delhi’s bowlers ensured a comfortable win, though they missed out on a knockout spot.
