West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell showed his commitment to franchise cricket by playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) less than a day after featuring in the ILT20.

On February 2, Russell represented Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in their match against Dubai Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Soon after, he traveled to Bangladesh and played for Rangpur Riders in the BPL Eliminator against Khulna Tigers on February 3 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

However, Russell failed to make an impact in either game. In the ILT20, he was dismissed for a golden duck by Dushmantha Chameera while playing for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. In the BPL, he managed only four runs off nine balls before Mohammad Nawaz bowled him.

Russell’s form in ILT20 2024 was also underwhelming. He scored 130 runs in 10 matches at an average of 18.57 and a strike rate of 156.62. His highest score was 37 not out against MI Emirates.

Russell has played 83 T20Is, scoring 1063 runs with three fifties and taking 60 wickets. While his recent performances have been inconsistent, his ability to turn games around remains unmatched.
