Durbar Rajshahi, a franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2025), is in trouble. Reports suggest that the team has not cleared the payments of its foreign players and staff.
Shafiq Rahman, the owner of Rajshahi, had assured that return tickets for foreign players were arranged. However, since payments were not settled, several players and staff are still stuck at the team hotel in Dhaka.
Players Stranded Without Payment
As per a Cricbuzz report, Durbar Rajshahi’s foreign players tried contacting the management for their pending dues but got no response. The players waiting for their payments include Mohammad Haris (Pakistan), Aftab Alam (Afghanistan), Mark Deyal (West Indies), Ryan Burl (Zimbabwe), and Miguel Cummins (West Indies).
Some local players also left the hotel without receiving their payments. The team management had promised to settle the dues, but no action was taken.
Bus Driver Takes a Stand
The situation got worse when the franchise failed to pay its bus driver, who had been transporting the team throughout the tournament. In response, he locked the players’ kit bags inside the bus and refused to return them until his payment was cleared.
“It’s a matter of regret and shame. If they had paid us, we would have given back the kit bags. The kit bags of both local and foreign players are inside the bus, but I cannot return them as we have not been paid,” said Mohammad Babul, the team’s bus driver, while speaking to reporters outside the team hotel.
Durbar Rajshahi also struggled on the field in BPL 2025. They failed to qualify for the Playoffs and finished in fifth place with six wins from 12 matches.
