A Big Over for Paarl Royals
This shot was part of a huge first over, where Pretorius and Mitchell Owen took Trent Boult for 21 runs. The aggressive start put early pressure on MI Cape Town’s bowling attack. However, Pretorius couldn’t capitalize on his quick start and was dismissed in the very next over by Kagiso Rabada, scoring 15 runs off just six balls.
A Breakout Season for the 18-Year-Old
Pretorius, otherwise has had an outstanding season in SA20 2025. The 18-year-old has impressed with his fearless batting, amassing 338 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 171 and an average of 30. His ability to play attacking shots against top bowlers has made him one of the most exciting young batters in the tournament.
However, in this high-pressure game, he couldn’t convert his start into a big score, which put Paarl Royals on the back foot early in their chase of 200 runs.
MI Cape Town Storm into the SA20 Final
After posting 199/4 in 20 overs, MI Cape Town dominated with the ball as well, restricting Paarl Royals to 160 all out in 19.4 overs, securing a 39-run victory. Rabada (2/18), Boult (2/38), and Rashid Khan (2/33) ensured Royals never got close to the target.
With this win, MI Cape Town have booked their place in the SA20 final, while Paarl Royals will now play the second qualifier for one last chance to reach the title clash.
