Rohit Sharma faced heavy trolling on social media after his poor form continued in the first ODI against England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The Indian captain managed just 2 runs off 7 balls before getting out to Saqib Mahmood. Many fans expressed their frustration and even asked him to retire.

Rohit Sharma’s Struggles Continue

This was Rohit’s first international appearance since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he had a disappointing run. The Indian skipper scored just 31 runs in five innings and eventually dropped himself for the final Test as India lost the series 1-3. He then played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy but failed to make an impact, struggling in the loss to Jammu and Kashmir.

In the Nagpur ODI, India lost the toss and had to bowl first. England started well with Phil Salt and Ben Duckett attacking the bowlers. However, India fought back with some smart bowling changes from Rohit, restricting England to 248 runs.

While chasing, Rohit opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was making his ODI debut. Jaiswal took most of the strike in the first few overs, while Rohit played cautiously. He got off the mark with an aggressive shot but mistimed it and managed only 2 runs. In the sixth over, he tried to flick a delivery from Mahmood but ended up hitting it straight to Liam Livingstone.

Following his dismissal, fans took to social media to express their disappointment. Some joked about Rohit’s form, while others harshly suggested that it was time for him to retire. His struggles with the bat have been a concern, and his performance in the upcoming matches will be closely watched.
