In the first ODI between India and England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, England got off to a flying start after winning the toss and opting to bat. Openers Philip Salt and Ben Duckett took charge early, pushing India on the back foot.

Harshit Rana’s Tough Start

Indian pacer Harshit Rana, making his ODI debut, had a forgettable outing as he bowled the most expensive over by an Indian debutant in ODIs. In the sixth over, Philip Salt took full advantage of Rana’s inexperience, smashing him for 26 runs. The over included three sixes and two boundaries as Salt dominated the young bowler.

This is now the most expensive over bowled by an Indian debutant in ODIs. Meanwhile, Salt raced to 34* off just 21 balls, setting the tone for England’s aggressive approach. Duckett, at the other end, played a steady knock, scoring 21* off 21 balls. By the end of the seventh over, England had already reached 56/0, putting early pressure on the Indian bowling attack.
