“Rohit & Kohli Failed Too, But Only KL Rahul Got Dropped, Why?” – Ex-Indian Cricketer Asks Tough Question

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised concerns about the team management’s treatment of KL Rahul after India’s first ODI against England. He pointed out that Rahul was pushed down the batting order because England had a left-arm spinner and a leg-spinner bowling at that time.
KL Rahul’s Changing Batting Order
India bowled out England for 248 after Jos Buttler chose to bat first in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6. KL Rahul, who scored just 2 runs off 9 balls, saw his batting position change once again. Despite his failure, India won the match by four wickets with 68 balls remaining and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
According to Aakash Chopra, Rahul’s struggles in international cricket are due to the team management’s decisions. He is the only player whose batting order keeps changing, making it difficult for him to settle. Because of this, he has not been able to secure a permanent spot in any format and is no longer part of India’s T20I team.
Whenever the team needs someone to drop, Rahul’s name comes up first. In the first ODI against England, he was moved from his usual number five spot, which was given to Axar Patel. Axar made a fifty, while Rahul got out cheaply.
A History of Questionable Decisions
This is not the first time Rahul has been treated this way. In a five-match Test series against Australia, he opened in the first game because Rohit Sharma was unavailable. But when Rohit returned, Rahul was moved to number three. These constant changes have affected his confidence and performance.
Aakash Chopra criticized this unfair treatment, saying, “Nobody except Rohit Sharma performed in Sri Lanka, but KL Rahul was the only one who was dropped. Virat Kohli also failed, but he remained in the playing XI.”
Sanjay Bangar, who usually supports the team management’s decisions, also spoke on this issue. He said, “The team management makes decisions based on various factors, but Rahul deserves fair treatment.”
With so many changes in his batting position, KL Rahul has struggled to cement his place in the team. Experts believe that a more consistent role could help him regain his form and confidence.
