England’s young all-rounder Jacob Bethell is excited to be part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the upcoming IPL season. The 22-year-old, who was picked up by the franchise for ₹2.60 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, recently met former India captain Virat Kohli for the first time during England’s ODI series against India.

Jacob Bethell Feels the Love from RCB Fans

Bethell, who plays for Warwickshire, has already experienced the RCB fanbase while on England’s tour of India. The youngster was surprised by the overwhelming support from Indian fans, who constantly chanted RCB’s name whenever he stepped onto the field.

“RCB is a great franchise, and I’ve felt the love over here,” Bethell told Daily Mail. “Every ground I’ve been to, as soon as I walk onto the pitch, they start chanting: RCB, RCB. There’s definitely a lot of support.”

Playing With Virat Kohli – A Dream Come True

During the ODI series in Nagpur, Bethell finally met Virat Kohli, a player he has admired for years. Speaking about the opportunity to share the dressing room with cricketing legends at RCB, Bethell expressed his excitement.

“To play alongside players like that would be really cool,” he said.

However, Bethell also emphasized that once players take the field, the aura of big names fades away, and it all comes down to performance.

“As soon as you play against someone, you realise you’re playing the same game, and they can make the same mistakes you can. It’s just that those guys got a lot better at not making the mistakes.”
