Shubman Gill Leads India’s Charge After Early Blow
After India lost Rohit Sharma for just one run, Gill took charge alongside Virat Kohli. The duo stabilized the innings against England’s pace attack, with Gill playing the aggressor. He punished Gus Atkinson with two classy boundaries in the 10th over, setting the tone for his innings.
Gill reached his half-century in 51 balls, bringing up his fifty with a stylish boundary off Adil Rashid. In doing so, he became the seventh Indian batter to score 50+ runs in every match of a three-game bilateral ODI series, joining legends like MS Dhoni, Kris Srikkanth, and Mohammed Azharuddin.
As Kohli fell, Gill accelerated the scoring, keeping the momentum in India’s favor. He reached his century in the 32nd over with a boundary, finishing with 14 fours and 2 sixes.
