WPL 2025: Ekta Bisht Becomes Oldest Player to Take Wickets in T20 Cricket

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is happening in India. In the fourth match, Delhi Capitals Women (DCW) played against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB) at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara.
RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and decided to bowl first. Delhi Capitals batted first but got all out for 141 runs in 19.3 overs.
During the match, Ekta Bisht created history. She became the oldest player to take a wicket in a Women’s T20 match in India. She is 39 years and 9 days old. She bowled four overs, took two wickets, and gave 35 runs.
Her wickets were Marizanne Kapp (caught by Danielle Wyatt-Hodge) and Jess Jonassen (caught by Kanika Ahuja). This record was earlier held by Afy Fletcher from West Indies, who took a wicket at 37 years and 277 days in 2024.
Delhi Capitals batters had a tough time. Jemimah Rodrigues scored the most runs for her team, making 34 off 22 balls. Sarah Bryce and Annabel Sutherland also tried their best.
RCB bowlers performed well. Renuka Singh took three wickets, while Georgia Wareham also took three wickets. Kim Garth and Ekta Bisht got two wickets each.
Ekta Bisht is a very experienced bowler. She has played for India for many years. Even at 39, she is still performing well. Her achievement will inspire many young cricketers.
Now, RCB needs 142 runs to win the match.
