Mumbai Indians Women secured their first win of the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) season with a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara. This win helped them bounce back after their opening defeat and maintained their unbeaten record against Gujarat Giants in WPL history.

Batting first, Gujarat Giants struggled to put up a competitive total, getting bowled out for 120 in 20 overs. Harleen Deol top-scored with 32 off 31 balls, while Kashvee Gautam contributed 20 off 15. Hayley Matthews was the standout bowler for Mumbai Indians, taking 3 wickets for 16 runs. Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr picked up two wickets each, while Shabnim Ismail and Amanjot Kaur chipped in with one wicket apiece.

In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the target in 16.1 overs. Nat Sciver-Brunt played a match-winning knock of 57 off 39 balls, smashing 11 boundaries. Amelia Kerr added 19 runs, while Sajeevan Sajana remained unbeaten on 10 to take Mumbai home. For Gujarat, Priya Mishra and Kashvee Gautam took two wickets each, but their efforts were not enough to stop Mumbai’s comfortable chase.

With this victory, Mumbai Indians Women have opened their account in the points table, while Gujarat Giants will look to regroup after another disappointing outing.
