The moment occurred in the 46th over of New Zealand’s innings when Naseem Shah bowled a delivery that Phillips tried to smash for a boundary. However, he mistimed the shot, managing only a single instead of the desired big hit. In a moment of disappointment, Phillips swung his bat in frustration, coming dangerously close to Kettleborough. Fortunately, the umpire quickly stepped aside, and both shared a lighthearted moment afterward.

Despite this brief moment of frustration, Phillips played a crucial role in New Zealand’s batting effort. He scored a quickfire 61 off just 39 balls, helping his team post a strong total of 320 runs. His innings included three fours and four massive sixes, accelerating after a slow start.

Opting to bat first, the Kiwis had a solid outing with the bat. Will Young led the charge with a brilliant century (107), while Tom Latham remained unbeaten on 118. Pakistan’s bowling attack struggled to contain the flow of runs, with only Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf making some impact. Rauf, however, had a tough day, conceding 83 runs in his 10 overs while picking up two wickets.
