England opener Ben Duckett created history on Saturday by becoming the first batter to score 150 runs in the history of the Champions Trophy. He achieved this milestone in England’s opening match of the 2025 edition against Australia.
Duckett reached 150 runs off just 132 balls, playing a crucial role in England’s total crossing 300, despite wickets falling at the other end.
Breaks Nathan Astle’s Record
The previous highest individual score in Champions Trophy history was Nathan Astle’s unbeaten 145 against USA at The Oval in 2004. Duckett went past that mark and set a new record for the tournament.
The left-handed opener was eventually dismissed for 165 runs off 143 balls, hitting 17 boundaries and 3 sixes in his innings.
At the end of 49 overs, England had reached 338/7, with Duckett’s innings playing a key role in setting up a strong total.
