A young man from Ilkal, Karnataka, has woven a message on a saree urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban online betting platforms like Rummy and Dream11. This appeal has gained attention and sparked conversations on the regulation of online gambling in India.

As reported by Vijaya Vani, Meghraj Guddatti, a resident of Ilkal, wove the words “Ban Rummy and Dream11” in English on a traditional Ilkal saree to highlight the effects of online gambling. Speaking to the media, Meghraj expressed his concern about the increasing number of individuals who have suffered financial setbacks due to their involvement in online betting. He emphasized that such platforms have led to severe economic distress for many families, with some people losing their entire savings.

“Many families have struggled because of online gambling. Some youths have faced financial distress due to excessive betting. The easy accessibility of online gambling platforms has led to an increase in addiction, pushing individuals into debt. This saree is my way of requesting the government to take strict action and ban these platforms. I plan to send it to the Prime Minister’s Office,” Meghraj Guddatti said.
