Kevin Pietersen Appointed as Delhi Capitals Mentor for IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals (DC) have named Kevin Pietersen as their mentor for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The tournament will begin on March 22, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match. Delhi Capitals will start their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 24.

Delhi Capitals Yet to Announce Captain

Delhi Capitals have not yet revealed their captain for IPL 2025. The team parted ways with Rishabh Pant before the mega auction. They have signed KL Rahul, who is one of the strongest candidates to lead the team. DC are still searching for their first IPL title, and they hope to achieve it this season.

Kevin Pietersen Joins DC Coaching Staff

The 44-year-old Pietersen will work alongside:

  • Hemang Badani (Head Coach)
  • Matthew Mott (Assistant Coach)
  • Munaf Patel (Bowling Coach)
  • Venugopal Rao (Director of Cricket)

Pietersen, who played for England, also captained the team in 15 international matches, including a Test series against India in 2008.

Kevin Pietersen’s Connection with Delhi Capitals

Pietersen shares a strong bond with Kiran Kumar Grandhi, the chairman of GMR, which co-owns DC. Last year, he helped GMR finalize a deal with Hampshire County Cricket Club.

Pietersen has vast T20 experience, having played in the IPL, PSL, CPL, and BBL. In 200 T20 matches, he scored 5,695 runs at an average of 33.89 and a strike rate of 137.

Delhi Capitals announced Pietersen’s appointment on social media, writing:

“Tell the world, KP is back home!”
