Delhi Capitals secured a thumping nine-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday in the 12th match of WPL 2025.
With this win, they have now climbed to the top of the points table. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Delhi’s bowlers delivered an outstanding performance, restricting Mumbai Indians to a below-par total of 123 for nine in 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians Women struggled to get going with the bat, losing wickets at regular intervals. Hayley Matthews (22 off 25) and Harmanpreet Kaur (22 off 16) tried to stabilize the innings, but the disciplined bowling attack of Delhi Capitals kept them in check.
Jess Jonassen and Minnu Mani were the pick of the bowlers, scalping three wickets each. Shikha Pandey also chipped in with a wicket while maintaining a tight economy.
Chasing a modest target of 124, Delhi Capitals Women made light work of the run chase. Skipper Meg Lanning anchored the innings with an unbeaten 60 off 49 balls, while Shafali Verma provided a blistering start with 43 off just 28 deliveries.
The pair added 85 runs for the opening stand before Shafali fell to Amanjot Kaur. Jemimah Rodrigues (15* off 10) then ensured Delhi reached the target in just 14.3 overs.
Mumbai’s bowlers had no answers to Delhi’s aggressive batting. None of the bowlers could make an impact, with Amanjot Kaur being the lone wicket-taker.
