Indian captain Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli were visibly frustrated with Kuldeep Yadav during the semi-final match against Australia in the 2025 Champions Trophy. The spinner’s poor fielding effort led to an angry reaction from both senior players.
Kohli and Rohit Lose Cool on Kuldeep
The incident took place in the 32nd over of Australia’s innings. Steve Smith flicked the ball to deep mid-wicket, and Kohli fielded it quickly before throwing it toward the bowler’s end. The ball came fast, but instead of stopping it, Kuldeep let it go, forcing Rohit to collect it at covers.
Kohli was clearly upset and shouted at Kuldeep, using harsh words in Hindi. Rohit also expressed his frustration and was caught on camera saying:
“Ball pakad nahi sakta kya?” (You can’t catch the ball?)

India’s Bowling Performance Against Australia
The match started well for India, with Mohammed Shami striking early to dismiss Cooper Connolly in the third over. Travis Head and Steve Smith tried to build a partnership, but Rohit Sharma introduced Varun Chakaravarthy in the ninth over. The mystery spinner made an impact immediately, dismissing Head on his second delivery.
Later, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith added 56 runs before Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Labuschagne. The CSK all-rounder then removed Josh Inglis, providing another breakthrough.
Kuldeep Yadav struggled to take a wicket as Jadeja, Shami, and Chakaravarthy dominated the first half of the innings. Shami picked his second wicket by dismissing Smith in the 37th over, breaking a strong 54-run stand between him and Alex Carey.
India’s fourth spinner, Axar Patel, also made an impact, getting rid of Glenn Maxwell for a low score. With Australia losing wickets at regular intervals, India looked in control of the match.
India Eye a Spot in the Final
Despite some misfielding, India’s bowlers kept the pressure on the Australian batters. With Rohit and Kohli leading the team with high energy, India aimed to book a place in the Champions Trophy 2025 final.
