David Miller has expressed his disappointment over South Africa’s semifinal exit from the Champions Trophy 2025. He also criticized the travel arrangements that forced his team to fly early in the morning after playing a match the previous night.
South Africa traveled to Dubai on Sunday to be prepared for a possible semifinal. However, when the schedule was confirmed, they had to return to Pakistan on Monday morning to play against New Zealand in Lahore.
“It’s only a one-hour, 40-minute flight, but it was not ideal. We had to fly early in the morning after a match and then come back the next morning. It wasn’t a comfortable situation,” Miller said after South Africa’s defeat on Wednesday.
The left-hander admitted that the scheduling was frustrating and openly stated his support for New Zealand in the final.
“I’ll be honest with you. I think I’ll be supporting New Zealand,” he added.
South Africa Falls Short Despite Miller’s Century
New Zealand posted a huge total of 362/6, thanks to centuries from Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra. South Africa fought hard, with Miller scoring a hundred, but they could only manage 312/9 in reply.
“There were some good contributions, and we had a solid start. But we lost a few wickets in the middle. Cricket is a team game, and everyone tries their best,” Miller said.
He also mentioned that facing India in the final would have been exciting.
“It would have been great to have a rematch against India. But life is not always fair. Winning trophies requires a lot of hard work,” he concluded.
