Rahul’s New Journey with Delhi Capitals

KL Rahul is set to begin a fresh chapter in his IPL career after leaving Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Delhi Capitals bought him for ₹14 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. Reports suggested that DC offered him the captaincy, but he chose to focus on his batting instead. As a result, Axar Patel has been named the captain, while Faf du Plessis will be his deputy.

Rahul has played 132 IPL matches so far, scoring 4,683 runs, including four centuries and 37 fifties. He was a key player for Punjab Kings before moving to LSG in 2022. Now, he will be looking to make an impact for Delhi Capitals at the top of the order.

Rahul’s Performance in the 2025 Champions Trophy

Before shifting focus to the IPL, Rahul played an important role in India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory. He batted in the middle order and delivered consistent performances, especially in crucial matches like the semi-final against Australia and the final against New Zealand. His ability to handle both pace and spin made him a key player for the team.
