The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to host special ceremonies at all 13 venues to celebrate the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This will be the first time in IPL history that every venue will have its own cultural event.

Grand Ceremony in Kolkata

The celebrations will start with a big opening ceremony at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 22. Bollywood stars and music artists will perform before the opening match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders. Singer Shreya Ghoshal and actress Disha Patani will be the main performers. ICC chairman Jay Shah and other officials will also attend the event.

Cultural Events at Every Venue

Unlike past seasons, IPL 2025 will have cultural events at every venue before their first match. These will include performances by well-known national and local artists. The BCCI is finalizing a list of Bollywood celebrities for these events. Since there is limited time between innings, two to three artists will perform at each venue.

A BCCI official said, “We wanted every venue to have its own opening ceremony so that all fans can experience the celebrations. We are finalizing artists, and the list will be announced soon.”

Challenges and New Venues

Since such large-scale ceremonies are happening for the first time, the BCCI and state associations are working together to handle all arrangements. The aim is to ensure that these events do not affect the matches.

Apart from regular venues, IPL 2025 will also have matches in Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Dharamshala, and Mullanpur. Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings have picked these cities as their second home venues.

With these celebrations, IPL 2025 is set to bring entertainment both on and off the field.
