Raipur man commits suicide after loosing 5Lakhs on online betting

Raipur police have reported the death of a 26-year-old man, identified as Shiv Ashish, who allegedly took his own life after incurring financial losses through online gaming.

According to a report by Thiha Chhattisgarh, Shiv Ashish had been staying in a hotel for three days before he was found dead in his room. He had taken a loan of Rs 5 lakh, which he reportedly lost while playing on the Winzo gaming platform.

His family had been searching for him after he went missing. Authorities discovered his body in the hotel room, where he had died by hanging. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding his financial distress.

​In a similar incident, a 35-year-old law lecturer from Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, was found dead at his residence. Identified as P. Arunachalam, he had incurred significant debts due to online rummy, borrowing several lakhs from friends and relatives. His addiction to online gambling led to financial distress, culminating in his tragic death.

In another case, a 42-year-old man from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, allegedly killed his wife and five-year-old son before attempting suicide. The accused, Haresh Vaghela, had accumulated a ₹4 lakh debt due to online gaming. Financial stress from his gaming losses reportedly led to this tragic incident.
