Punjab Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 11 runs in a high-scoring encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, in the fifth match of IPL 2025. Batting first, Punjab posted a massive 243 for 5 in 20 overs, thanks to a stunning knock from captain Shreyas Iyer, who remained unbeaten on 97 off 42 balls.

Shashank Singh provided a late flourish with 44 off just 16 balls, while Priyansh Arya set the tone with a quick 47 off 23 balls. Sai Kishore was the most effective bowler for Gujarat, taking three wickets for 30 runs.

Chasing 244, Gujarat Titans started aggressively but kept losing wickets at crucial moments. Shubman Gill anchored the innings with 68 off 35 balls, while David Miller smashed 52 off just 22 balls. Rahul Tewatia also played a handy knock of 41 off 18 balls, keeping Gujarat in the game.

However, Punjab’s bowlers executed their plans well in the final overs, with Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh picking up two wickets each to restrict Gujarat to 232 for 8 in 20 overs.

For Punjab, Jansen and Arshdeep were the pick of the bowlers, while Chahal and Vijaykumar Vyshak also chipped in with one wicket each.

Gujarat looked set to chase the target at one stage, but Punjab’s disciplined bowling in the death overs made the difference. Shreyas Iyer’s calm captaincy and Shashank Singh’s late fireworks played a crucial role in sealing the win for Punjab.

With this victory, Punjab Kings have strengthened their position in the points table, while Gujarat Titans suffered their first defeat of the season. Both teams will now focus on their upcoming matches as IPL 2025 continues to provide thrilling contests.
