Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a historic 50-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, marking their first win at this venue in IPL history since 2008.
Batting first, RCB posted 196/7, with Rajat Patidar leading the charge with a 32-ball 51. Phil Salt (32 off 16) and Devdutt Padikkal (27 off 14) provided a strong start, while Tim David’s late blitz (22 off 8) pushed RCB past the 190-run mark. Noor Ahmad was the pick of the CSK bowlers, taking 3/36.
Chasing 197, CSK struggled from the start as Josh Hazlewood dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad for a duck. Rachin Ravindra (41 off 31) tried to anchor the innings, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Shivam Dube (19 off 15) and Ravindra Jadeja (25 off 19) showed some resistance, but the required run rate kept climbing. MS Dhoni’s late cameo of 30* off 16 wasn’t enough as CSK finished at 146/8 in 20 overs.
Josh Hazlewood led RCB’s bowling attack with 3/21, while Yash Dayal (2/18) and Liam Livingstone (2/28) chipped in with crucial wickets. With this win, RCB not only broke their losing streak at Chepauk but also made a strong statement in the tournament.
