Online skill gaming and sports media platform Nazara Technologies has joined industry body All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) as a principal member. As a result, founder and CEO of Nazara, Nitish Mittersain will now be a part of the executive committee of AIGF, helping the latter with shaping policy frameworks, promoting responsible gaming in the real money gaming (RMG) market while also leading the All-India Game Developers’ Forum (AIGDF), a not-for-profit entity by AIGF.
The CEO of AIGF, Roland Landers said, “As one of India’s largest and most diversified gaming group, and with vast experience across game development, esports and pay-to-play, it will definitely strengthen AIGF and its vision. We will also rely on Nazara’s experience to strengthen the All-India Game Developers’ Forum, which in a short span of time, has become the largest body of game developers in India.”
Nazara Tech has affirmed recently that it intends to expand in the RMG sector and working with AIGF, which boasts over 150 members including game developers, online gaming companies, RMG firms like Mobile Premier League (MPL) and Gameskraft, might help in upping their RMG business.
Furthermore, AIGF will also be forming one of the three SROs that will be responsible for regulating the online gaming sector and give Nazara more clarity on what form of RMGs will be allowed.
Nazara operates Halaplay and Classic Rummy in the RMG space. As of now, Nazara generates around 5% of its revenue from this sector which amounted to Rs 57 crore in FY23.
“We’ve not had a very large business in the real-money gaming (RMG) sector. It is therefore an opportunity where we can now start investing and grow that business to a meaningful scale and the opportunity is there in the real-money gaming segment,” Mittersain said as quoted by Moneycontrol.
