Celebrities and online influencers are continuing to promote banned betting website Lotus365 on Instagram. This time it is actresses Sreemukhi and Esther Anil with the former having previous connections with the illegal betting website as well.

Sreemukhi has nearly five million followers on Instagram. In her latest video, she tries to entice people by saying that they should switch from fantasy gaming apps (legal) as they cause losses and require users to form teams and choose captain and vice captain. Instead of indulging in such intricacies people should choose Lotus365 (illegal) and start placing “bets” and get “guaranteed money”. An important thing to note here is she used the word “bet”.

Sreemukhi even states that merely enjoying watching IPL matches is not enough and people should start betting on Lotus365 and win money. Furthermore, she claims that the banned website is the most trusted betting platform in India and even provides live prediction.

It makes no sense that a company solely working to earn profit will provide any form of accurate prediction to people betting on their platform. Meanwhile, Sreemukhi partnered with Lotus365 during IPL 2023, too.

The latest Instagram reel was posted four days ago, more than a week after the IPL 2023 concluded.

Similarly, Esther Anil who has over a million followers, shared a collaborative post on her Instagram account with Lotus365. It included an image of Esther along with text listing various features of the illegal betting platform.

With this, Sreemukhi and Esther Anil have joined other celebrities – Janani Kumar, Priya Varrier, Tamannaah Bhatia, Suniel Shetty, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Urvashi Rautela – in promoting the banned betting website in India.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Urvashi Rautela have already received notices from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) regarding their promotional videos for Lotus365. As per the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) 2019 all celebrities are also liable for a penalty of Rs 10–50 lakh for false/misleading advertising.

People unsure of which platforms are illegal can check the list here.
